The website
General trade information, published for people trying to understand their own buildings. Read it, print it, forward it internally. Bulk copying, scraping, or commercial republication needs permission first.
Standards references are context, not findings
Code and standards material on these pages reflects widely published requirements as they stood when the page was written. Jurisdictions adopt different editions, amend them locally, and enforce them through their own officials. Manufacturer listings routinely impose tighter limits than any general standard does.
None of it constitutes a determination about a door in your building. That requires somebody standing in front of the opening with a gauge, working against the editions your local authority has actually adopted.
Ranges, then firm numbers
A figure quoted over the telephone is a range built from a verbal description. It firms up after a site visit, because rating status, frame condition, existing hardware prep, and access constraints each move the total and none are visible down a phone line.
If scope grows once work is underway, tools stop and you are consulted. Nobody here decides on your behalf that you would have wanted the larger job.
Who may instruct the work
Only somebody entitled to commit the property. Where a landlord, management company, or head tenant has to sign off, securing that sits with the customer, and we would rather pause than proceed into an argument between parties.
Windows
Given honestly and dependent on access, traffic, parts, and what earlier jobs turn into. A window about to be missed produces a phone call, not silence.
Parts, lead times, substitution
Lead times are stated before you approve anything, wherever they are known. On rated assemblies, product is supplied as listed for that application, and a faster equivalent is not offered as a favour, because the substitution is precisely what voids the rating.
If something goes unavailable after approval, you get the options and make the choice.
Invoicing
Terms are fixed at quotation. Purchase order references given at scheduling appear on the invoice. Where your organisation invoices through a portal, submission follows that portal.
Warranty
Labour is warranted for the term printed on your invoice. Components carry whatever the manufacturer offers and nothing beyond it.
Impact damage, unauthorised alteration, and adjustments made by other hands after we leave fall outside it. On a rated assembly, alteration by a third party can void the manufacturer's listing as well as our own warranty, which is the more expensive of the two consequences.
Where liability stops
Capped at the value of the work performed, so far as the law permits, and nothing here removes protections that cannot lawfully be removed.
North Carolina law governs. Work carried out in South Carolina answers additionally to the codes and officials with jurisdiction there.
